Dialogue Beyond Borders — An International Exchange at the British Embassy
A member of A.T.I. Education recently had the opportunity to participate in an international cultural dialogue hosted at the British Embassy in Beijing.
The event brought together representatives from the fields of diplomacy, education, and publishing to discuss the importance of cross-cultural understanding in shaping future generations.
It was a truly inspiring occasion that highlighted the role of global perspectives in meaningful education.
At A.T.I. Education, we continue to champion international-mindedness in learning. By connecting classrooms with the wider world, we aim to cultivate curiosity, empathy, and confidence in every learner we support.
Bridging Cultures in Beijing|A Celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day
On 23 May 2025, a member of A.T.I. Education was honoured to attend the Georgia Independence Day reception, hosted by the Embassy of Georgia in China.
The event welcomed diplomats, educators, and international guests to celebrate Georgia’s national day and cultural heritage. It was a memorable gathering that showcased the spirit of international friendship and cultural appreciation.
At A.T.I. Education, we value opportunities to engage with the global community. Experiences like this remind us that meaningful education happens not only in the classroom, but also through shared moments that connect us to the wider world.
May 2025|A Story Told Through Fabric
This May, A.T.I. joined families and children in Huixingyuan Community for a hands-on workshop exploring the art of tie-dye. The session introduced both traditional Chinese indigo printing and modern Western tie-dye techniques, allowing students to see how a single craft can reflect different histories, meanings, and aesthetics.
With each fold and splash of colour, children learned not only how to create something with their own hands, but also how culture can be touched, shaped, and shared. Every finished piece carried a story, and every pair of hands told it differently.
Local youth volunteers helped facilitate the class and had their service hours officially recorded by Volunteer Beijing. Those who showed strong commitment were also recognised with certificates and invited to take part in future community programmes.
At A.T.I., we believe education is not just what you learn in books. It’s also how you connect with tradition, with others, and with the world around you.
April 2025|A Cross-Cultural Moment in the Classroom
Today, A.T.I. joined students at Baijiazhuang Primary School in Beijing for a hands-on cultural workshop on tie-dye art. From traditional Chinese indigo printing to Western-style tie-dye patterns, the session explored not just techniques, but the beauty of cultural differences. With every fold and color, students discovered how a simple piece of cloth can tell stories from across the world.
At A.T.I., we don’t just teach language, we open doors to the world.
Through immersive workshops like this, we empower students to see, feel, and celebrate cultures that are different from their own — and find their place in a connected world.
April 2025|A Special Day at the National Centre for the Performing Arts
Today, the A.T.I. team enjoyed a rare behind-the-scenes visit to the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Guided by theatre staff, we explored rehearsal rooms, costume areas and stage entrances — the hidden spaces where each performance begins.
One of the most memorable moments was watching the orchestra rehearse. Seeing the musicians work so closely with the conductor brought a new appreciation for the skill and dedication behind every note.
The evening concluded with a powerful live performance by Paavo Järvi and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The music was precise, emotional, and deeply moving. It was an experience we will not soon forget, set in one of the most iconic venues in Beijing.
At A.T.I., we believe in the power of the arts to inspire, connect, and elevate. We look forward to sharing more cultural moments like this with our students and families.

February 2025|East Meets West: A Cultural Exploration at the Mei Lanfang Theatre
In February 2025, A.T.I. Education hosted a unique cross-cultural learning experience for students, taking them behind the scenes at the Mei Lanfang Grand Theatre in Beijing. Guided by a national intangible heritage expert, students explored the rich world of traditional Chinese opera, learning about costumes, roles, and the symbolic art of face painting.
What made this event even more special was the interactive online session led by an international teacher, introducing students to the history and aesthetics of Western opera and mask culture.
This immersive East-meets-West experience offered students a rare opportunity to engage with both cultures in a single day—broadening their worldview without leaving the city.
January 2025|Dialogue of Fan Art – An East–West Cultural Encounter
In January 2025, A.T.I. Education hosted a unique cross-cultural activity titled “Dialogue of Fan Art”, blending traditional Chinese lacquer fan craftsmanship with Western fan culture through a combination of offline hands-on learning and online international discussion.
During the event, students had the opportunity to:
- Explore the beauty and cultural significance of traditional lacquer fan art
- Experience hands-on creation of non-heritage lacquer fans guided by expert artisans
- Join an online session with international teachers to discover the history and styles of fans across different cultures
This immersive cultural dialogue allowed students to better understand both Chinese craftsmanship and global traditions, fostering creativity and appreciation for heritage art.
